Assessment of the Nurse's Knowledge Toward Chest Pain Relief for Patients with Angina Pectoris at Tikrit Teaching Hospital

Objective:(1) To evaluate nurses' understanding regarding how to relieve chest pain in patients with angina pectoris; and (2) To ascertain how nurses' knowledge of chest pain relief for angina pectoris patients relates to their demographic data.
Study Design: Descriptive study
Place and Duration of Study: This study was conducted at the Tikrit Teaching Hospital in Tikrit City Iraq from 2nd December 2024 to 2nd January 2025.
Methods: 50 male and female nurses from the emergency care unit, surgical ward, medical ward, and cardiac care units were enrolled. It is separated into 2 parts, the first part consists of 7 demographic items, including gender, age, education level, marital status, hospital workplace, training sessions, and years of experience. Nurses' knowledge regarding how to relieve chest pain in patients with angina pectoris is evaluated by fifteen items in the second section.
Results: Most of the nurse's knowledge has been at an intermediate level. There is a strong relation between nurses' knowledge and their education level and gender, yet not with marital status, years of experience, age, hospital workplace, or training sessions. The educational initiatives that address and concentrate on managing angina chest pain ought to be created and implemented.
Conclusion: The yearly shift in Iraqi nurses' understanding of angina relieving pain. Encourage the nurses to participate in workshops both abroad and domestically to broaden their knowledge. In the critical care units, put an educational poster that provides nurses with further details on how to treat angina early.
